Every month Sophia and a friend go from Mexico City to Guadalajara to teach a Satsang class. They’re Higher Initiates. The flight takes about an hour each way. When they arrive back home, they get a taxi.
One time they found that their taxi driver was a woman. This is very unusual in Mexico, so they commented on it to their driver. They said, “Very unusual, but we’re happy to have you.”
They started going to their respective homes. As they were driving along, the cab driver overheard them talking in back. She said, “Do you teach a class?” They said, “Yes, we do.” “A class on what?” Read More
My goal is to be completely open to Divine Spirit. To put this into practice, I try to put love in everything I do, as the ECK Masters do.
Closely related to this, I try to do everything as if I was doing it for God alone. This point helps me tremendously to give even more of myself in service. Love is the key!
A couple weeks ago, my wife and I were taking our daily walk in the neighborhood, and we came across a lady, “Cheryl,” who is working at a place called The Beach Club. Cheryl is in her forties. She has two kids involved in all sort of activities, and she told us how she was bustling with so many activities that most nights she can’t sleep. She has insomnia. She tried everything, she said. I was a recently divorced, single mom. My seventeen-year-old son, “Josh,” was a senior in high school and seemed not to care about much. He especially did not care about graduating, and he often got in trouble for skipping school. Eventually he was suspended, and when that didn’t work he was placed on probation and independent study. One more misdeed and he would be permanently expelled. Read More

As a spiritual seeker, I found the Eckankar website very helpful and informative. In my heart I knew this was for me. I wrestled with it for almost a month, but then I thought, What would hurt to get a one-year membership? After all, if I was unhappy with it or didn’t like it, I could get right back into metaphysics. So I jumped right in. I went online, made a donation, and signed up for membership.
The next day, I decided to do the HU. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. So I started to sing HU. I felt awkward, but I continued. Still feeling awkward, I pressed through the battle in my mind. I focused on my Third Eye. I began to feel the pure vibration I had felt a short time before, when I visited an ECK Center. I began to be filled up with love. The awkwardness was certainly gone. I was raptured in Spirit. Read More
In the Journey of Spiritual Discovery Survey, members of Eckankar responded to questions about their experiences. An ECKist from Canada gave the response below to, What unanswered spiritual questions did you have PRIOR to finding ECKANKAR?
What am I doing here? What’s the purpose of life? What is life? How can I know the truth of life? Why does every religion and teaching I explore seem to hit a wall? Isn’t there some teaching somewhere that goes all the way? What are the keys, the secrets, that most teachings don’t seem to know?
If you want to lift yourself to a higher state of consciousness—so that the political issues, the family issues, the social issues of the day do not throw you out of balance, so that you can find a happier, more contented life while you’re living here—sing HU, the most beautiful prayer.
You have the potential for greater happiness, love, and understanding. Singing HU can bring these to you—through the Light and Sound of God.
Throughout the ages, followers of many spiritual traditions have used prayer, the singing of holy words, and meditation to bring themselves closer to God. In the same way, those who have discovered HU, an ancient name for God, sing it for their spiritual upliftment.
Regardless of your beliefs or religion, you can sing HU to become happier and more secure in God’s love.
A friend of mine recently went through a very traumatic experience. She already suffers from anxiety. This was made worse when she was viciously attacked by two men. They stole some things from her purse like money and her phone.
She was badly shaken and did not leave the house for months—only to work and straight back.
After listening to her story, I empathized with her and shared the HU with her, saying this was the only thing I knew that could help her.
A few weeks later she sent me a text message saying “It worked . . . It worked, the HU worked.” She and her husband had just watched a program on TV called “Crime Watch” which reenacts crimes in the hope of catching the criminals. This brought back her terrifying ordeal. She began to cry uncontrollably. Her husband was unable to help. After a few hours, she finally remembered the HU. By the time she got to the fifth HU the crying had stopped and she felt a warm feeling of peace and love.
