Q: How does one know if a relationship is based on love and is worth developing?
A: No one has the final word on love, but consider the following points in deciding if you really love someone:
- Does he bring joy to your heart when you think of him?
- Do you want to make him happy?
- Will you love him for what he is and not try to change him? Will you let him be as he is and not what you want him to be?
- Young people tend to fall in love with their ideal of love. This means that one has the ideal of a Prince Charming who is really a toad. Not all Prince Charmings are toads, and not all toads are Prince Charmings.
- Don’t forget your self-worth. How does he treat you—like a treasure or someone to be used?
Love is the expression of the ECK, Divine Spirit, on earth, and these points should give you a fairly good opportunity to see what kind of relationship you are in.

You have the potential for greater happiness, love, and understanding. Singing HU can bring these to you—through the Light and Sound of God.
Throughout the ages, followers of many spiritual traditions have used prayer, the singing of holy words, and meditation to bring themselves closer to God. In the same way, those who have discovered HU, an ancient name for God, sing it for their spiritual upliftment.
Regardless of your beliefs or religion, you can sing HU to become happier and more secure in God’s love.
Dreams are an easy and natural way to pursue spiritual unfoldment. Here is an exercise you can try before you go to sleep. It can help you see your problems from a higher viewpoint to aid you in your life.
Make a request. Before you go to sleep, write down a question about a problem that bothers you. Ask the Dream Master or your own spiritual teacher for guidance on this question. Lie down, and close your eyes.
Sing HU. Softly sing HU (pronounced like the word hue) for about five minutes. HU is an ancient name for God. It has the unique ability to lift you into a higher state of awareness. Singing HU connects you with Divine Spirit, or ECK, which can be seen as an inner light or heard as sound.
Write down your experiences. When you wake up in the morning, write down any dreams, thoughts, or feelings, even if you don’t think they are significant. As you go through your day, write down any new thoughts or experiences that relate to your problem. Do this for three to five days. Then look over your notes. You may discover that images you first thought were unrelated now make sense and give you clues to the overall pattern of your life.

The way to spiritual freedom is really very easy. But first you’ve got to recognize that there is a need to have spiritual freedom. That’s a big step. Most people never come to that in a single lifetime. It never occurs to them that they don’t have spiritual freedom.
Once you come to the realization that you are without spiritual freedom, then comes the question of how you go about getting it. Read More

A woman from Trinidad felt as if her life had gone to hell in a handbasket. Her marriage had just broken up. Then her son began using drugs.
Life was pretty hard, so much so that one day, while she was driving to work, tears began pouring down the woman’s cheeks. She decided to pull the car off the road and just cry.
She pulled up beside a field where young horses were grazing. Still crying, she got out of the car to enjoy their beauty. Read More

One night a sales representative had a dream about two collies. Her recollection of the dream was a bit garbled the next morning, but she dutifully wrote down as much of it as she could remember. Then she went about her life as usual.
She was just sitting down to dinner the next day, when she heard a noise at the kitchen door. There were two collies standing outside.
The woman recognized them immediately. They were the collies in her dream.
If she hadn’t had that dream, she might have sent the dogs on their way, thinking that they were simply exploring the neighborhood and looking for a handout. Read More

A man and his wife owned a farm in the eastern part of the United States. They had llamas and sheep, and outside the fence they had coyotes.
The coyotes spent their time trying to figure out if it was worth it to go inside the fence to get the sheep. But inside the fence was also where the llamas were. And llamas are very protective of sheep.
A llama has a very peculiar warning cry. It sounds like a siren. The first time the man heard this siren sound, he had no idea what was going on. He ran outside, prepared for just about anything.
It was the llama sending a warning to a coyote or some other animal that was thinking about coming after the flock of sheep.
You have to consider that Divine Spirit, the Holy Spirit, watches out for each of you, for your safety and spiritual well-being, with as much care as a llama looks after the sheep in its care.
The Holy Spirit, or the ECK, is a wave which comes from God made up of both the Light and the Sound. It is the Voice of God, the Sound Current.
It speaks to us in different ways. Sometimes it’s through intuition, sometimes through a messenger speaking for the spiritual hierarchy, like a guardian angel. It also speaks to us through dreams.
Llamas are interesting, and the Holy Spirit is interesting too.

One rainy afternoon I drove along an expressway listening to the beautiful song of HU playing on my car stereo. An ancient and sacred name of God, the sound of HU can open the heart to the Holy Spirit’s love and protection.
Soon I noticed the driving conditions had become increasingly dangerous. I had already passed one car accident, and now rainwater was pooling on the road.
I hit my brakes to slow down.
Suddenly, the car skidded out of control and went into a spin. Swinging around and around, I careened into traffic, heading toward a railed embankment. All I could do was hold the steering wheel tightly as I prepared myself for the coming collision. Read More
An ECK Satsang class is a gathering of ECK members who choose to come together once or twice a month to further their spiritual understanding through study of the ECK discourses. In studying the ECK discourses, an ECK Satsang class revolves around the rhythm of the Living Word.
This rhythm is important because it is the Life Force, the ECK. The words of the outer teachings are instruments of the Mahanta to help unlock your heart so you can enter into the secret kingdom. To the eyes of the world it may all seem foolishness, yet the gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to those who cherish them enough to reach out for them. Read More
