Soul moves through the evolutionary process in a number of different forms, including those of animals and birds. These are some of the many different ways in which Soul gains experience, thereby gaining expression of Its divine self.
In the process, Soul must learn to receive love and to give love.
One of the best ways to learn how to give and receive divine love is to chant HUas a daily spiritual exercise. Simply sit comfortably where no one will disturb you, close your eyes, and gaze gently into your Spiritual Eye. This is the point between your eyebrows, at the center of your forehead. Then sing HU softly on your outgoing breath. Read More
I had a powerful dream which lasted only four minutes, but it was an extreme four minutes.
The dream was about my translation, my death. I was sitting on an operating table. The lights were all on, and the room was full of machines that were all turned on. I looked to my left, and my physical body was lying on the table.
Strangely, I wasn’t scared or surprised to see my body. I realized that I was dead, but I wasn’t afraid. On the positive side, I was now free. I then looked to the end of the room. The Mahanta, the Living ECK Master was there, watching me. At his left was a door of light of a magnificent brilliance. He then invited me, with a simple gesture of his left hand, to enter the door of light. Read More
Often people are afraid to follow their inner guidance. It sounds like such a foolish thing to do, especially if they have to face other people and explain why they are doing what they are doing.
One of the very strong pressures in life is the social consciousness: What will people think? What will people say?
The social consciousness is so strong that it keeps people in religions that they have outgrown years ago. But they’re afraid to leave because they worry about what the neighbors will say. It is a very strong force that the negative power uses to keep people in line. Read More
The ECK, Divine Spirit, pushes us into a situation where—by agreement, by saying we would like the next-higher stage of illumination—we open ourselves to changes in our life.
The moment we say to the Mahanta, “I am ready; take me where you will,” is like the flash of lightning. In the space of time that follows, we face the unknown. We go about our life, changes start to occur, and we don’t quite understand what’s happening or how it’s going to turn out. Read More
The phone rang one day as I was on my way to work in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Normally I do not answer the phone while driving, especially if the call is from an unknown number. But on this occasion I felt compelled to pick it up. The voice at the other end said, “Is this the correct number? A white man gave me this number in a dream last night and said I should call it this morning. Is this the correct number?”
“Yes,” I said, sensing the white man he mentioned must be the Mahanta. Then he began telling me his story, but I had to stop him. “I am driving,” I said. “I’ll call you back in two hours.” Read More

This story is about “Uba,” who’s currently living in the United States. In an African language, “Uba” means rich.
Way back when he was a Second Initiate, Uba wanted to Soul Travel more than anything. Because as far as he was concerned, if he could Soul Travel, this would prove that Eckankar was real, and that the ECK teachings were what they said they were.
He was so desperate to learn to Soul Travel. He tried a three-day, dry fasting technique that his Christian father had taught him before he died. Yet the deceased can come in dreams and tell you all kinds of things. Read More
This story is about Mary. She was a volunteer emergency medical technician (EMT), working out in the country where there was a long drive to the hospital.
The EMTs have a difficult job. Their task is to figure out how they can help the patient. Sometimes the patients are in great pain. The EMTs get them aboard the ambulance and check the vital signs like temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
Mary would chat with patients and try to cheer them up in some way, see if she could just help them feel better. Maybe they would think less about their own situation. Read More

Many people don’t realize that this lifetime is a rare opportunity. Of all the billions of people who are here, not so many will find ECK. But it’s a precious lifetime for every Soul who is here. We come here, in a sense, like people walking into a dark room—into a dark hallway even—where there are a lot of sharp edges. And we stumble along, trip over things, bump into walls, get turned around, run into corners, and things like that. Eventually we begin to look around for the light, or a voice, a sound—anything to give us a clue. How can we get out of this dark place? Read More
