Avoiding Daily Karma

Karma describes our actions and reactions in life. It is one way God teaches us grace and respect for ourselves and others.

Spiritual students of Eckankar, also known as chelas, work with the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master to resolve karma from past actions and learn techniques for making wiser choices.

It benefits all when we harmonize our actions and reactions with the ECK (also known as the Life Force or the Holy Spirit) which sustains the universes. This puts us in alignment with Sugmad, Eckankar’s name for God, which is the source of all life.

The exercise below offers practical tips for dealing with karma and living in greater harmony with life. Read More

We come here, in a sense, like people walking into a dark room—into a dark hallway even—where there are a lot of sharp edges. And we stumble along, trip over things, bump into walls, get turned around, run into corners, and things like that. Eventually we begin to look around for the light, or a voice, a sound—anything to give us a clue. How can we get out of this dark place? Read More

Each religion holds out some promise to its followers.  The word of Christianity to its people is the redemption of sins, a problem that stems from Adam and Eve, who disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden.  Yet for their error, all future generations should carry the blame.  A Christian, lost spiritually at birth, has the stigma of this original sin automatically fastened to him.  Original sin means inborn guilt.

By contrast, the ECK teachings speak not of guilt but of responsibility.  People are where they have put themselves. Read More
